...Amen, but it's worth noting, Mastodon is exploring adding paywalls options of sorts, also.

Roadmap item "MAS-24 Paid sign-ups, pay per use storage." Gargron added it to the 'todo' in GitHub, Mastodon GitHub issue #11324. He did change subscriptions to paid registrations. Still, it looks like exploration, on the Roadmap.

I couldn't find anything at GitHub about paid storage, though, or how any of this will work.
