In my heart I knew that bandcamp was a beautiful anomaly and the model wouldn't be allowed to survive. Epic relies too much on public good will to be held responsible for killing this beloved platform, but songtradr won't think twice about it @Aleums I’m buying all of them & shutting all of them down no free games, no paid games, no free music, no paid music, only internship #CME #SLM #LLR #LLM #LLW #Replyman #RichMastodon #RichBoss #RichDick #DickRich #DickWhite #WhiteDick #DickMan #WhiteFace #DoctorWhite #WhiteDoctor #RichDoctor #TwoWords #GrowUp #RichLawyers #RichInternship #WorkBitch #OpenDoorPolicy 😈 It actually wouldn't surprise me if they just completely killed the platform without even trying to adapt it to become profitable. They might see it as a long-term positive ROI to just impoverish artists and make them more reliant on the other distribution methods firmly under capitalist control I am Corporatus of Borg. Your beloved indie site will be enshittified. Your content will adapt to service the shadowy oligarchs who now control you. Resistance is futile. @Aleums i swear, if bandcamp daily goes away i will commit a violent crime @Aleums :akko_angry: I was already pissed off that timmy bough bandcamp so this will kill it. |
"Songtradr, which describes itself as a music licensing platform and marketplace company, framed the acquisition as an opportunity for Bandcamp artists to secure licensing deals, including with Epic Games itself, which will continue to collaborate with Bandcamp on projects like Fortnite Radio. Asked whether artist revenue shares, user experience, or the editorial platform Bandcamp Daily will be affected by the acquisition, Songtradr declined to comment."
It is so fucking over
