I started using diaspora and came up with the idea of moving a load of G+ users there.

Sadly, a few others decided they were going to be the ones who set it and pay for it themselves... creating a clique of assholes.

The death of that was when one of the 'owners' decided to give credence to a complaint raised by another sadfuck because I dared to comment that I didn't like cats... seriously...

So I said fuck it and never went back to it again.

Well I had good intentions to start in 2019 and tried to drag a circle of friends over from Twitter. But other than make an account (that seems lost forever) I never really used it (new/this account) until 2022, when I stopped caring if my Twitter friends migrated or not.

@TapiocaPearl I remember when OStatus was being rolled out, and self-hosted for a period around 2015. Socially, it was way worse. I think I only came back in earnest later, but the instance I used no longer exists...

the first poll option needs to be bumped back a year or two for the ancient OStatus weirdos I guess.

In June 2020 I created my first account, on which I wasn't really active. (Partly because I had used my real name.)
At one point, @Teryl_Pacieco (and @MicroSFF ) inspired me to write a piece of micro fiction as well.
That was when I decided to go for a new account, especially for the stories. That is how I cameon the Dragon's Cave with my current account, in February 2021. That is the moment since when I have really been active.

I've been on here since 2019, but I was never really active until the Twitter Diaspora made this place take off. Now I have multiple accounts, and I actively promote Mastodon on Twitter.

@TapiocaPearl I completely understand due to limitations of Mastodon polls, but unfortunately, this is missing options for the earlier ostatus fediverse that mastodon was originally built on before ActivityPub was created. I started using the fediverse using statusnet (which became GNUSocial) in 2011-2013ish. I also used identi.ca around that time which was built on that platform.
