Gregory's Server@woodpunk Had that with somebody trying to use a Waterstone's card in Blackwell's. I tried gently explaining that while book tokens are accepted in basically any bookshop, store cards don't work like that. Didn't help. Might have made things worse.
And yes, I'm aware of the irony a decade later.

@Dtl Yes, but if they'd had any decency they'd have done the "What's the date? Yes, but WHAT YEAR?!" thing. Shoddy temporal navigators, no idea which decade it is...  @_thegeoff they need to throw in a "who's the president/prime minister" too for added authenticity. @Dtl @_thegeoff And then you answer, “Do you mean the President of the European Commission?”, to mess with them. Would even work in current EU countries… 😜 @_thegeoff @woodpunk back in my Xbox support days I spent an hour or so with a difficult gentleman who refused all the normal "disk won't read" troubleshooting advice, only to learn that the root cause was "it's a Playstation disk". |
