Two seconds after anchoring in Smuggler's Cove, we spotted two orcas swimming by the entrance :orca:

Been a while since I've seen orcas (last time was from afar in 2021). They're so easy to recognize with their high and straight dorsal fins, and of course... they always have a crowd of admirers nearby (4 boats).

We saw another whale too, it kept slapping its tail in the water, and got in the way of a motor boat regatta which i thought was very amusing 🐋

Today was SUCH a good whale day!

@rek tailslapping usually means humpbacks I think

@timbray i just looked it up, apparently sperm and grey whales (think we have those in BC) do it too.

I think it was a humpback though yes :), it was alternating between tail and flipper (pectoral fin) slapping XD...

@GustavinoBevilacqua not surprised, the resident orcas are rly popular here :).
