@ZySoua

Either The Great Filter, or The Great Silence. I lean toward Great Silence, but see both as likely and plausible.

Natty :butterflyN:

@ZySoua@mastodon.ml I'd go like this, in the order of likeliness:
The great silence: There is a good chance type III civilizations are simply not physically possible
Not life as we know it: I think we'd still catch radio signals anyway
The Gaian bottleneck: There has to be
some planet that could send a signal, not very plausible I'd say, although, there might be a point that intelligent species exhaust their resources fast and can't stay stable for long, maybe millions of years, missing us; but I would say they'd at least leave some trace
Early birds: Very likely, evolution took billions of years after all, and Earth actually had very good conditions for this
Therefore, I believe advanced life is just extremely rare (as the other theories suggest, just framed differently)

@ZySoua Neither. But I'd consider any of them. Theories aren't religions to believe in them. Every one of the listed here are worth contemplating until we get any evidence.

Just one question. What's the difference between the filter and the bottleneck ones? Aren't they the same thing?
