@grzgrz01 @nixCraft I've been loving helix for the last few months - no idea who it would be from this though πŸ˜‚

@nixCraft to be honest, as a long-time VSCode user, I Identify with Ken

dotoscat

@nixcraft and what about Emacs with evil mode and vscode with the vim extension?

@nixCraft @atpfm regarding last episode’s discussion on editors. πŸ˜†

@nixCraft surprised that no one mentioned Sublime Text yet. Not as bloated as VSCode nor does it require memorizing countless keyboard shortcut to be used

@msb98 @nixCraft sure it does, but you learn them gladly and then years later don't want to learn a new set. luckily, vscode has an extension for that… πŸ˜…

(sez me now in retirement and able to take the time to learn intellij along with its own keystrokes…)

@nixCraft I am still happy that I have almost 40 years of vi muscle memory in my fingertips, but I have in the last 2 years been amazed at how much I have come to rely on VSCode for daily use in embedded systems development under Docker.

Same goes for Docker by the way as I was stuck using VMs for so many years.

I started programming on the University of Toronto's timeshared punch card system back in the late 70s - we have come so far since then :-)

@nixCraft Makes me want to use emacs even more than I already do.

@nixCraft it took me a few seconds and now my wife thinks I've gone mad because I just can't explain to her why this is funny...

@nixCraft I've been using vim for sometimes and I love It, but it's been a while that I use a vim plugin in vscode for some daily cases.

@nixCraft Editors...there are more of them than flavors of religion.

We tend to stick with what works for us when we devoted the time to learn the weirdness unique to _that_ editor. For me it's DEC's TPU, that is EVE; only that's no longer an option for me. Now I'm wandering in the desert seeking a replacement. Nothing seems to measure up.
