@AbandonedAmerica You should share them with @dawnf1re who has a great fondness for them

@RobinBobcat @dawnf1re oh, we'd get along well then. I'm always making my wife stop to find frogs on forest walks. I think she kind of enjoys it at this point though

Any frogologists out there that can tell me what kind this is? It looks like a cricket frog to me
Abandoned America
@openfields @dingodog19 ok but do toads climb front doors and change colors like the gray tree frog? It is possible I saw another species in nearly the same spot yesterday but if not it those are definitely traits

@edm00se @AbandonedAmerica I would concur, some variety of toad.

Could it be a Gray tree frog? https://nationalzoo.si.edu/animals/gray-tree-frog Are you in this range?
Abandoned America
@chargrille I think based on reading about them that it's likely you're right. One was climbing on my front door last night and they do change color. Unless that was another species in my yard.

Cool! He/she/they is a cutie! Even cooler that they change colors. (In case it wasn't clear, my "Licensed Frogologist" was a joke. I googled "bumpy green frog" & started looking at pictures lol.)

@chargrille I'm thoroughly stumped, I have some other frogologists that are making me think it may in fact be a toad and that I also have frogs in my yard. It's a mystery!

@Brentguernsey I feel like this is a solid guess. One was sitting on my front door yesterday about halfway up it, so they can climb flat surfaces. The color changing seems like a fit too

@AbandonedAmerica It looks like a young American or Fowler's toad to me. Or another Anaxyrus species, depending on where you are. Cricket frogs don't have those big glands behind the head and have a more streamlined shape and pointed snout. Gray treefrogs don't have the glands either.

@AbandonedAmerica I think you have multiple new amphibian friends! At least, I've never heard of toads climbing a smooth surface like a door, and they sometimes look darker when they're cold but it's not much of a color change.

@RodneyPetersonTalent I just saw those at a zoo last week, very different looking π

I know, Iβm just being a smart ass. Tons of people have no idea theyβre real or how dangerous they are. Pretty, tiny, cute and very, very deadly.
Abandoned America
@RodneyPetersonTalent I figured! And yes, they're actually very pretty, and small.

@noondlyt none of them have so far, thankfully. I have to pick up a lot of them to move them to safety when I mow the grass

@billyjoebowers @noondlyt @AbandonedAmerica It's nice to keep up your piss and love spirit.

@AbandonedAmerica In the middle of France here, every year at night in summer they pass to say hello and in September again, when they're big guys. I love them! |
