@Catawu @ned I mean, not to quibble with your intent here, which is clearly good, but as a member of “them” (disabled people), trust me, it’s *our* loss. Our expensive, painful, lack of access to contemporary tech & housing & privacy & legal protections & healthcare & the job market loss.

@gnomicutterance @ned Clearly, your struggle and the loss on your side of the equation is painful. And it’s unfair. Expensive. When I say “our loss” , I mean it as treasure unrecognized. How much we could gain from connecting. And we don’t even know it. People who manage despite the challenges bring a new perspective to every level of society. We make greater progress when we include. Society is stunted from lack of fairness. One more post…

@gnomicutterance @ned Making it possible for everyone who wants to to be able to work, be paid fairly, and live an independent life as much as possible, also means we have more taxpayers to improve the things we all need.

The perspective that a challenged person brings to a work environment actually improves it for everyone. Ramps, lifts, accessible counters and facilities… all are in reality, improvements.
