 @firecat @eddiecsilva This thankfully has nothing to do with Space Karen. This is about Valve surveying users and making the information available to everyone. Nothing more. @gavin57 @eddiecsilva itâs not available for everyone, you can not access the website, you can not request it, the data is exclusive to Valve. You donât own the data, you canât track down the data. There is only Valve has the main source. @firecat @eddiecsilva I'm literally accessing the website. The thing is, Valve is not obliged to provide anything. They're not a government organization whose sole purpose is to collect and present statistical data as part of its civic remit...they're a game developer and software distribution platform that offers this data to interested users. @firecat @eddiecsilva What is really interesting is that 42% of Steam users on Linux are using SteamOS Holo. Arch and Ubuntu are the 2nd & 3rd largest with 7%. @gavin57 @eddiecsilva Just believing that alone is no different than Elon Musk fake followers. They control the website, they control the data, they control who sents it. I often see pot of people not getting the survey. The data is just isn't trustable enough. @firecat @eddiecsilva âŚbut the data is inconsequential. Right now weâre talking about what machines & software is used to play games on. It really doesnât matter. If Valve was in charge of civic planning, fine, but theyâre not. Musk is also irrelevant. A two-bit car dealer who runs a toxic website that is dropping in value by the day. @gavin57 @eddiecsilva it makes people believe Valve is successful in Linux. Also, over at knob I just realized that Valve never mentioned what âLinuxâ means in their chart. It can be anything from VM, bot accounts, false proxy, etc. The data should not be considered 100% PC Linux. @gavin57 @eddiecsilva âotherâ, yep see what I mean. Not always 100% PC Linux and Valve wonât share any information on it. |
@gavin57 @eddiecsilva again the main problem is the one who owns the data. They removed all possible ways to collect data as an individual. This is not any different than Elons way.
