 A question for my #German friends! :) Do you have a city with a criminal reputation? Some unofficial capital for shady doings, or something? The context. I have a secondary character who is a member of organised crime (drugs, arms, prostitution - the usual stuff). He's never openly announced as a mafioso, but it's actively hinted at. His group mostly operates from Canada. However, they have partners in Germany, so from time to time he goes on "business trips". Where would that be? 6 comments
@Rhukii I suspected there was something wrong with Frankfurt, because somehow it was the first place that came to mind. 😁 Thank you! :) @SeventhMagpie there's also statistics on how many drugs are found in European sewerage which is kind of interesting. It's said that Frankfurt am Main has a high consumption of cocaine but I don't know how up to date that info is. I'm sure you'll find some juicy information for background building if you want to. Apparently drugs also make almost half of all (known) organised criminal activities in Germany @Rhukii Actually, drugs would fit me the best. Later on he will meet a woman who works in pharmaceuticals, so I suppose this would provide some common ground. I'll dig a bit further. It should be interesting. Thanks for giving me ideas! :)  |

@SeventhMagpie Frankfurt am Main (important!, there is another Frankfurt in Germany) has a pretty bad reputation especially when it comes to drugs and public safety. Second place would be Berlin actually. Those two have the highest crime rate. For hinting to crimes I'd probably choose Frankfurt am Main as people tend to associate it with such things
