@Paperposts @LauraKerrArt When I first set up my Mastodon account last year on Masto*Art, was:

1) there really wasn't a wide range of experimental #MassMediaArt ~ #CollageArt, such as #Vispo ~ #VisualPoetry, #AsemicArt ~ #AsemicWritng, #AsemicPoetry, #DadaistProsePoetry, or #CollagePoetry ~ #CollageProsePoem

and

2) Even though #Hashtags were greatly encouraged, many in #Art were using them sparingly. For example, I would see posts with collage art, asemic art, and mixed media art that were only tagged as art. 🥴

There may be similar issues on other platforms.

Have you noticed that most art seems to be digital drawing, game art? It is skewed to young folks whose art experience and background see art in this context. :skp904:

@JPK_elmediat @LauraKerrArt yes there's definitely a skew to digital art, computational and generative stuff. I enjoy that, but really love the non computer versions or early computer experiments. Like the Aaron Marcus piece I posted. I'm going raid my library tonight, to see what I can post. Also, thank you for the many interesting things you share!

Although my work sometimes strips away details and uses current tools, a very good part of my time is spent studying archives of early 20th c typography, logo design, and pouring over books on the Bauhaus. I should post more of my favs from the past greats. :) thanks for sharing here! You’ve inspired me to post more. 🌌🙏

@LauraKerrArt @Paperposts I did find myself in an instructor/introducer role once I figured out what the lay of the land was around here. :dy18:
Anytime, I came across posts that featured #AsemicArt or had slipped (unknowingly) into #Vispo or other forms, I would boost them, but I would also reply positively, while pointing out and hashtagging appropriate #ArtMedium and #ArtGenre topics.

@LauraKerrArt @Paperposts I find it ironic that to some degree, any form of #AnalogArt, including #ExperimentalArt, such as #MixedMedia, #CollageArt, #AsemicArt, or #VisualPoetry, is seen by the young folk as #TraditionalArt. 😂 I'm so old. :bl26: I guess that makes me #Vintage.

@JPK_elmediat @Paperposts Right On! I’m old school digital. I don’t like to relinquish too much to AI…when I’ve tried to use AI it has been more as an art critic for my work-extra pair of eyes. I am not fearful of using it responsibly & I do not use Chatgpt. Generative Art is different as I make a lot of Glitch Art which has a Chance Process, so it is generative. Why can’t we explore everything responsibly. I don’t like all AI art but I don’t like all Landscape painting either.
