@neil problem is that the people who many want to follow aren't here, plus when you browse the trending posts on the big instances, you get all the serious politics and tech stuff for the most part, not "fun content"
I love Mastodon but people *can't* find the things they want, although personally I suspect it is an issue of scale, as this sort of platform primarily attracts a more "serious" crowd.
What doesn't help either is that "shitposters" or "fun" people don't like hashtags either.
@neil that being said, if you go to small instances such as wetdry.world, you will see shitposts and fun content on local and trending, but most people don't know anything about Mastodon and will just hit the big instances, which seem very serious!
There needs to be some way for people to find each other a bit better, but what? I'm game for anything as long as it isn't someone curating for others.
