my new metric to rate the quality of a city is "indy bookstores and libraries per capita."

it is the complement to my other metric of rating how bad cities are: "pickup trucks per capita."

@vesto I need to start measuring the frequency at which I discover indy bookshops in my city because it just keeps happening. It's great!

even then, little working pickup trucks are A OK! Lots of maintenance to be done in a city.

It’s the giant glossy ones with the depraved-indifference flat grilles that are anti civic.

@clew yeah fair enough. the giant asshole ones have just put such a bad taste in my mouth that Ive become pretty dogmatically against all pick-up trucks, even if I do actually agree that the little ones when used appropriately are fine.
