Whenever I read about redesign of a UI I wonder whether the lack of some radically new technology a year or two ago prevented the better design in the first place.

Please take into account that probably a large number of people have invested time to learn the current UI and will have to do so again to re-learn the new one. It better be a whole lot better so that it pays in the long run.

@pixelfed Just please, please avoid the two caste "discovery" system most social media is built on today. This comes from the feedback loop of promoting people / topics that are already popular, creating algorithmic 1% "celebrities" and 99% "nobodies".

Keep recommendations based on *relevance* to user's stated interests. These can be found by selected hashtags at onboarding, publicly authored texts, and later, from favorites, interactions and public social graphs.

Plz don't clone the shite.
