@inkscape geez I would loooove to use inkscape on my tablet Samsung s6 lite. Can I hope?

Inkscape

@globcoco Not sure what that would require. Some things can now be made larger than before, if that helps for touch.

Coralie Renée

@inkscape soooo I can hope?
Krita is on my tablet... (it's very hard to use compare to hipaint, a clone with less functionalities than procreate) but with inkscape i would be able to do great things though...

Petit Lutin

@globcoco
I would also use an Android version of Inkscape on my Samsung S7! :blobaww:
(I've been using Krita for illustrations on it for 2 years now)
@inkscape

Coralie Renée

@Petit_Lutin @inkscape how do you manage to use it? (The buttons are small yet it féls very crowded)
I wish there were a workspace with the basic essential or a layout that was ui friendly. 🙏

Petit Lutin

@globcoco I also used to think the buttons were too small. They indeed decreased in size for the undo/redo buttons: this bugged me at first but this came with new finger gestures : tap with 2 fingers to undo, tap with 3 fingers to redo. Tapping with one finger shows the wheel with brushes (where I put my favorites): I never used it on desktop because I had a shortcut on my tablet for switching brushes, but I find it really useful on touch screen!
I hope it helped :neko_smiley:

@Petit_Lutin @inkscape it definitely does! Thank you.
Another question: Beside putting the workspace in view mode, is it possible to have an uncrowded set up?

Petit Lutin

@globcoco

You mean, besides being in the full screen mode? (I dont use it)
Yes there is a way to reduce the interface dockers, by toggleing the button in the bottom left of the screen.
It is not much visible on photos but it still makes a difference IRL.
Hope I answered your question correctly :)

#Krita

Krita default interface when opened on an Android tablet. In the bottom left of the screen, the second icon (very small, just before text) can reduce the size of the dockers.

With the interface slightly reduced.

Same, but I also reduced the dockers in both left and right (on the left with the drawing tools, on the right with the color wheel and the brushes).

@Petit_Lutin @inkscape okay. This is very simple but it helps tremendously.
How do you manage to get the size of the brush when the wheel appears, without having a button "select all" poping up every time?

Petit Lutin

@globcoco I'm not sure to understand: you want to change the size of the current brush, right?
I keep the "size of the brush" slider visible. I think it is by default, in case it's not it's in Settings > Configure toolbars > BrushesAndStuff > Cursor [number] of brush options, and I think you can choose between size, opacity, and flow.

View of Krita, settings docker
Coralie Renée

@Petit_Lutin I didn't see the "BrushesAndStuff > Cursor [number] of brush options," 😜
Mine is in English mais je pourrais aussi le changer en français pour mieux comprendre. 😁

Petit Lutin

@globcoco docs.krita.org/en/reference_ma

Coralie Renée replied to Petit

@inkscape looking rad!! gotta download and give it a test run later today! really happy to see a shape builder tool, and excited to play with the pattern editor tool.

Puplaroid ✏️

@inkscape Yay, new version! :yay_cheer: I've been eager to try Inkscape 1.3, downloading it as I'm writing this comment. Thank you! :blobcathearthug:

@inkscape
Congratulations 🎉!!
OMG: the change list is huge again!
The speed of things changes is incredible!

@inkscape It's exciting to see Inkscape continue to get better and better!

@inkscape nice, but i can't close the colorpickers in the document preferences using the mac arm build.

Abandoned

@yetzt @inkscape Please report this error to inkscape.org/report we can try and get it fixed for 1.3.1

Stephen Thomas

@doctormo @yetzt @inkscape Finding the same on my Mac. Can't close the document properties window. Will submit a bug report now

yetzt

@thecgnerd @doctormo @inkscape there appears to be a bug with z-order, the click appears to register in the most underlying window. the workaround is to drag the top window outside the underlying main window, then the click registers.

Stephen Thomas

@yetzt @doctormo @inkscape Ahhhh, yes, that makes sense. I just submitted this bug and it looks like that's what's happening. I'm also finding that window resizing doesn't work half of the time (also shown in the same report) gitlab.com/inkscape/inbox/-/is

Abandoned

@thecgnerd @yetzt @inkscape

Thanks for reporting. This is pretty serious. Sorry about that. :ablobcatheartsqueeze:

JoaquimCarneiro :arch: :gnome:

@inkscape not in Arch repos and not in flathub repos, so it doesn't exist 😜

digitalfox

@inkscape Holy crap - this took a mildly complex SVG of mine from being a sloooow pain to work with on my 2014 laptop, to being completely usable!

I feel like Inkscape has surpassed the 0.92 days in terms of performance. :fox_happy:

(I did turn off the render cache as per gitlab.com/inkscape/inkscape/- - good luck with whomever works on fixing it!)

Theriac

@inkscape@mastodon.art
can I just ask why the SHA256 checksums aren't on
all the download pages?

I mean it's cool and all being in the elite club that knows you need to go to the "All Platforms for Inkscape" for the version you want,
then select the platform and then you get links with SHA356. But why is it so hidden?

@inkscape The shape builder tool is amazing!! Great work!

wraptile

@inkscape So many new features! The new pattern tool is looking amazing.

System upgrade couldn't happen fast enough today :)

Adam

@inkscape Thank you for all the hard work the team has done to release v1.3. It is an amazing application that I use quite often.
