@thomasfuchs I can totally understand, that people might prefer Chrome's GUI over #Firefox's. However, there's a simple solution: Using #Chromium or @brave

@shaedrich @thomasfuchs @brave chromium is a google controlled project that is the basis for both chrome and brave. if this proposal gets implemented, it will get implemented in chromium, which will then bring it to pretty much all browsers but #firefox (and some firefox based browsers, which there aren't many of).

@shaedrich @thomasfuchs @brave ok, you are probably right. but still it's not great to let google have almost all the market share.

@Sympel @thomasfuchs @brave Sure, I don't like it either, but there are technically only two competitive browser engines left: gecko (Firefox) and webkit (Chrome)β€”what can one do about that?

Sympel

@shaedrich @thomasfuchs @brave not much except to use gecko as long as there aren't major reasons against it. i can see that it won't make a huge difference though.

@shaedrich They might be able to remove this one API from their patched #Chromium, but #Google won’t stop here. They will keep adding anti-features and @brave will definitely hit a wall with the things they can remove from the vanilla Chromium source.

I just wouldn’t bet on a Chromium browser anymore. Firefox is so flawed, though, I can fully understand why people would hesitate to use it. It lacks tab groups, vertical tabs, power efficiency & some critical extension(s) for me.

@spensa_skyward @brave To bad nobody really creates browser engines from scratch anymore nowadays.
