@thomasfuchs Ugh, this is troublesome news...I don't want to support Google in their time of being a massive asshat.

I need to investigate alternatives that work well with my Google 2FA and Password less Sign-in. I'm a bit too tied to their ecosystem right now. ๐Ÿ˜ญ

@WanderingInDigitalWorlds Iโ€™m using Authy, but switching to Appleโ€™s Keychain for 2FA (more convenient for me)

@thomasfuchs I use Authy for a lot of my 2FA protected accounts. My Google Account is specifically protected with Password-less device based Authentication and a Security Key. An alternative browser has to work with this for me to be able to switch from using Chrome completely. I'm using a Google Pixel, so that complicates matters.

@WanderingInDigitalWorlds @thomasfuchs You would think that based on how badly Goog is getting punched in AI by Microsoft right now, they wouldn't TRY to alienate more users at the same time...

@Wikisteff Hubris is the destroyer of all, great or small...This isn't surprising Google is hedging their bets on the majority of their user base to simply not care. I've already sent them feedback about their proposed change. If enough users do, they might pivot.

I use a password managing app that I sync my data with between devices. It's a bit of a pain compared to passwordless, but at least I only need to remember
one password, and then I spend a minute getting into my password manager to find my other passwords.

@WanderingInDigitalWorlds @thomasfuchs that was the pointr of "passwordless" : it gives Google the control of your accesses.
