I have to admit, I feel like if you’ve seen one cave you’ve seen them all

@Gargron Reading The Lord of the Rings as a kid prepared me for caves far more glorious than we typically see here on Earth. @Gargron I tend to agree :-). For a change, visit one of the caves that have a lot of ice in them. @Gargron “Well, then why should we do anything more than once? Should I just smoke this one cigarette? Maybe we should only have sex once, if it's the same thing.” “Should we just watch one sunset? Or live just one day? Because it's new every time. Each time is a different experience.” - Jane Margolis, Breaking Bad @Gargron I guess that’s why Plato came up with projecting shadows onto all those boring cave walls. @Gargron Is that The Grotte du Grand Roc? I'm sure I've been to that exact spot. @Gargron I've seen a lot of cavernous caves, but nothing like this one. It's beautiful! @Gargron Sorry that the picture quality is so low. It's from pre-digital days. @Gargron @Gargron However, I haven't ever been in a cave with that much water in it so there is that @Gargron very enclosed. Ermm, maybe if they federated they'd feel different. @Gargron there is plenty for the imagination— thanks for sharing. Love this book about exploring underground places: https://www.amazon.com/Underland-Deep-Journey-Robert-Macfarlane/dp/0393242145 |
