I mean, the entire reason for #Bluesky was because Jack Dorsey doesn't want to block Nazis and other racists from using his social media platform cash cows - like Twitter, where he still holds a $1 BILLION investment - to radicalize others.

He said many times that his solution for Twitter is a protocol so that abusive accounts can't be banned, & their victims will be forced to use algorithms to hide from them, but give them free rein to radicalize others

Dorsey said his greatest mistake was letting Twitter suspend/ban Trump’s account during the Jan 2021 Republican coup & that it “we did... the wrong thing for the internet and society.” He spent years trying to give Musk control at Twitter.

His politics are anti-democratic.

[screenshot of Dorsey remarks:]
"have become far too powerful, and that became completely clear to me with . ’ our suspension of Trump s account. As I've said before, we did the right thing for the public company business at the time, but the wrong thing for the internet and society."
@chargrille
Dorsey started Bluesky because he wanted to keep the Nazis and violent coup instigators on Twitter. He said kicking Trump off during the coup was "the wrong thing for the internet and society." In 2019 he couldn't say he'd kick Trump off for explicitly calling for murder.

[Screenshot of Dorsey quote]: "The biggest mistake I made was continuing to invest in building tools for us to manage the public conversation, versus building zools for the people using Twitter to easily manage it for themselves. This burdened the company with too much power, and opened us to significant outside pressure (such as advertising budgets). I generally think companies have become far too powerful, and that became completely clear to me with our suspension of Trump’s account."

Well who could possibly have foreseen how things are going over at Dorsey's Nazi free speech zone/brainchild. /s/

What surprises me most is how many people imagined an intent to ever implement any real moderation on #Bluesky to protect Black users from the fascists he let run wild for years on Twitter

 Everything Dorsey ever wrote on it says the entire point of #Bluesky was to help monetizers avoid any moderation at all. Users are just meant to cover their eyes with an algorithm & let it happen

@Jack in hindsight, do you think it was the wrong decision to ban President Trump? (and Alex Jones, CarpeDonktum, and all the other conservatives unfairly purged from Twitter?)

@jack

as | said in a thread on the event, | believe all permanent bans are a failure of the company. But likely right decision for the the company. Wrong for technology underlying the service. Hence @bluesky

Obviously he didn't use those words. But that's what he's talking about.

@chargrille @davidgerard tbh there's definitely something to be said about giving good tools to users, because most of the Usual Suspects were *pissed* when they came to Bluesky and saw posts about this mute list
