Following the example of the German government and the European Commission, the government of the Netherlands is now running their own Mastodon server! No middlemen between them and their constituents! Welcome @minbzk!

@simonzerafa it’s a subdomain of overheid.nl (https://government.nl in English); doesn’t get much more verified than that!

I have to wonder, how do you feel about such prolific institutions using your software in an official capacity? Is it more pride or anxiety? I feel like I'd trend towards the latter. @Gargron @minbzk ,Amazing NEWS :) We Must Expand: #SocialMedia , & #Fediverse ,Around The World & Only Overlapping With #Instances / #Severs , & Accounts ,Only When/If We CHOOSE TOO :) @Macaca Johns Yes, it's an official state server, run by the state, and only official state organizations and persons (ministers and the likes) will get accounts on it.
We'll never have to wonder if an account is real of fake, because the simple fact that it's on "overheid.nl" means the account was created by and opened by the "overheid" ("government").

@Gargron Oooh, does Mark Rutte have an account? I'd like to ask a question or twenty. @Bjørn Larssen 🇺🇦 🏳️🌈 AFAIK he's only on the birdsite. And asking him questions requires a lot of skill: he's as slippery as an eel and will usually answer in a way that doesn't answer any question, but steers the conversation in a direction he likes.
@Gargron @bfdi is independent. @Gargron @Gargron @minbzk 2023 Viral videos! Syakirah Baby Putie Ariza Rafifa Am Vane Kesyskiskie @Gargron @minbzk @TomOrmiston boggles my mind that more institutions aren't doing it! |

We need to encourage them to verify their accounts so they can be seen to be official 🙂👍
