@alex moving Wales to halfway to Eire would make for some interesting new politics & logistics.
Narrower gaps could lead to Chunnel-style connections from eg Liverpool to North Wales, North Wales to Dublin?

@fluffgar @alex in a move few saw coming in 2016, Cymru becomes a self-governing region of Eire. Which leads to more ppl in both NI & Scotland seeing joining Eire as a real and present and good option.
2025: The United Republics of the Celtic Isles is formed.
Which is then forced to reconsider its defense politics considerably given the new situation. NATO membership?
