@pixelfed @dansup sorry why does it do it twice? Is this just some weird way of getting sign ups? Surely it is easier and better to create the account separately.

@nf3xn why would it be easier? 2 sign ups for a federated platform instead of 1? Redundant at best.

How are there two signups? You already have a mastodon account.

The flow shown here is if I am not mistaken:

1. authorize access to your mastodon account.
2. create a new account, presumably authorized by 1. and I note, still requires yet another account - email.

or

1. create a new account
2. decide whether you want to link it to your other account or not.

@BeAware a less toxic flow might be

1. offer to create an account with your mastodon user filled in and then
2. finally do you want to give *only* this new account access to your mastodon account.

and why does it need yet another account - email?
