Hey there new people! Are you looking for a nice, well-run server to move to? I maintain a small site that lists them at: All of the servers listed obey the four rules of the Mastodon Covenant (https://fedi.garden/about-this-site/), but it's more than just Mastodon servers and they are all under 50k members. If you move your account to another server and you don't delete the old account, the old posts will still be there on the old server but they will redirect people to your new account. There are a number of specific bigotries not on the list (including ableism etc) because I was trying to copy over the terms from the Mastodon Covenant (https://joinmastodon.org/covenant), in order to keep it as simple as possible for servers to comply. I ought to expand the stated forms of bigotry, but would need to check with each server listed to make sure they comply with an expansion. I'll try to work on this. @FediGarden Thank you. One of the unspoken issues with Mastodon is the fact that omission is often interpreted as permission. Because islamophobia is rarely mentioned, many think it’s acceptable behaviour. It’s also a top-down problem, with admins and mods engaging in incredibly islamophobic behaviour. The broader community does nothing about it, because it’s not explicitly listed as offensive behaviour.  @FediGarden thanks for doing this! The server I moderate, heads.social, and our friends at shakedown.social both meet your criteria and are open to new members with approval. Both are broadly music oriented with a lot of content related to the deadhead/psychedelic counterculture world, but in an easygoing and non restrictive way. We are both strictly moderated in the "no hate/no maga BS/all good people are safe here" sense I'm trying to encourage people onto smaller servers, but there were certain niche language servers which were over 10K so I settled on 50K as a limit. It's arbitrary really, but I don't want to list mega-instances. @FediGarden smaller servers to help foster a real community I’m guessing? Sorry if the questions are silly, still trying to get used to everything being federated and whatnot @FediGarden Does it really matter WHAT server you’re on ? All of these social media sites are soooo confusing and I could care less about all of this FKing computer lingo. I just want all of my friends back from that dead bird site, but THATS not going to happen. All of these new social media websites are so impersonal anyway and I did not get ONE dime for my GoFundMe page. It’s been VERY discouraging. |
