@supernovae @jerry @lonus I'd love to be wrong, but I didn't see this anywhere. Everything I've seen told me that would support ActivityPub. Even the sign up process has in it. That tells me that hat this was an early launch and not ready. If hadn't imploded, this app would have dropped in a few months with in tow.

@BeAware @jerry @lonus

This is exactly why I made an effort to contact Meta.

There was no way in hell I was going to sit around and wonder if my world would blow up if they launched. That just isn't sane to wait and see when I owe it to my users and the community to be prepared for what I can prepare for.

I knew it was always a delayed launch for activitypub federation on threads and so did the media publications from the verge and other blogs.

@supernovae ah, so you knew (before this week) that the app was launching sooner rather than later? Interesting. Source? You're saying words with no receipts.

@BeAware

And this is why discovery is such a disaster here ;)

(i'm being snarky because my talking to meta got me death threats and defederated and front page on almost every instance)

I blogged about the side story here and what we talked about on blog.universeodon.com

@supernovae hug of death? Site inaccessible. Will bookmark. Thanks for the link.

@BeAware yeah, i think write.as is under load from lots of activity going on - hopefully, the page will load for you in a few mins.

I tend to blog a lot about our stuff - which i need to go update the people search blog here once their servers catch up.

@supernovae I did read it. At least the most recent one. What I was expecting was actual quotes from something saying "Threads will launch soon without federation and activitypub will be added later". That was the receipts I was looking for, not that you actually talked to meta. That, I believed.

My concern from your blog, however, is the trust you give . Their track record shows that the positive discussion you've had with them are just fluff to quell concerns. 🤷🏻‍♂️

@supernovae furthermore, it's concerning that people who control so many peoples data, trust the people who have exploited that data for years. And that's what you're wrong for, and should apologize to your users for taking their data security so lightly.
