The posts from accounts I don't follow on Threads are getting ever more infuriating. They drown out the posts from people I do follow. Following someone seems to be merely a suggestion to them.

I'm not open to discovering new "content" from people I don't know, for fuck's sake. ActivityPub support can't come soon enough. I'll just follow everyone from my server and never open that app again.

@grishka I believe it was predictable considering the amount of recommended content in ig and fb.

@mormontales I was somehow naive about it. And Instagram doesn't push recommended content nearly as much — you get a post marked as such, and you can "mute recommendations" for 30 days at a time. Yes it does sound user-hostile af but at least you *can* still do something get rid of it. In Threads though I feel powerless.

@grishka agree, but still, 2 ads in a row every 3-4 posts in ig feels overwhelming 😿

@mormontales I use an Instagram mod called Instander. Among other niceties, it removes ads using a method I came up with.
