@mexicancartel @osc @Mastodon This article sounds to me like a scapegoat: "Our OSS software failed, but not because it was too nerdy and people preferred a commercial software, but because we didn't wall off our OSS."
Ironically, this philosophy of supporting widespread blocking in the #fediverse fundamentally contradicts the core philosophy of openess of #OSS.

@folkerschamel @mexicancartel @osc @Mastodon It seems like they didn't have enough users to sustain their platform in the first place.

Supporting widespread blocking is completly needed when you have the USA becoming the 4th Reich and trying to impose it on everyone elses.

If you want to be a Nazi is your problem.

The rest of the world hates them and they will be stopped.

bugbear

@folkerschamel How does it contradict "the core philosophy of openness of OSS"?

@folkerschamel @osc @Mastodon mastodon will serve as the content for meta threads users initially. From there we they will gain lot of users(by ads and through instagram), which serves as the user base for future content, and i guess they will themselves de federate from other instances, pulling more users into them.

I think its better to not let them in the first place.

@folkerschamel @osc @Mastodon OSS principles or free software principles are not affected as OSS is developement method and free software is freedom in running and modifying our software, none aligns with defederating a privacy invasive company from ourself

@mexicancartel @osc @Mastodon #threads has more sign-ups in the first 24 hours than #mastodon had during its whole lifetime and they haven't even integrated with the #fediverse yet.

I can assure you, they don't need any content or users from #mastodon.

Right now I don't see any other explanation than idealism that they work on #activitypub integration.
