@mcc it took me like 2 weeks to enable federation on my one-man social media project, so either the facebook programmers aren't very good (not likely), or the company hasn't yet figured out how to hack activitypub for profit yet (very likely).

@mcc in fact it's quite possible the suits at facebook thought activitypub was somewhat easy to game, & are only finding out now that actually, the protocol is too inherently platform-agnostic for that. & now for all we know they're scrambling to either “extend” the protocol (à la web 2.0) or adopt another one (bluesky?), or just make their own which they'll try to market to the fediverse as a “better” alternative to activitypub.
