@Rairii @w @liaizon I still say this is an exercise to show congress they don’t need to be regulated, and all interest will wane once they have done so successfully

@ariadne @Rairii @w oh yeah I mean they do not give a single fuck about the fediverse we are but a drop in the bucket. But I still find this whole thing bizarre. The fact that they are even calling it "the fediverse" in these strings is quite unbelievable to me

Rairii

@liaizon @ariadne @w i can believe it somewhat given they're courting big server admins under NDA so they'll want to PRETEND like they give a shit

@Rairii @liaizon @w have we actually verified the signatures on the leak? i have seen the signing certificate, but has anyone actually verified the apk signature?

Rairii

@ariadne @liaizon @w yes. i verified the apk signature with java -jar uber-apk-signer-1.3.0.jar -y, it's valid

@Rairii @liaizon @w and with apksigner from the android SDK?

Rairii

@ariadne @liaizon @w i don't have the android SDK installed.

Rairii

@ariadne @liaizon @w fwiw, if i suspected the apk to be fake, then I wouldn't have posted the info I did.

I'm also skeptical how much they'll integrate with fedi and for how long, but in addtion to regulatory spin (in th EU as well) I'll bet they're exploring a decentralized system: "partners" do data harvesting for them and run ads in return for a revenue share. Of course their most lucrative partners are elsewhere but using eager admins as a proof point could be useful ... until it's not at which point they discard their "partners"
