@tom @timoka I was about to comment on the same thing, as the 3.5mm jack has been standard across all devices for decades, already reducing "e-waste".
Reading through the article and FAQ, I realized that the OpenGraph image attached to this press release appears to be misleading.
The proposal is only for charging of devices, and doesn't affect the presence of audio jacks or any other I/O ports.
