✨ Import from Instagram issues have been fixed in the latest commits!

If you have an import that has been stuck on "Processing", it will be properly processed once your instance admin updates to the latest commits!

Pixelfed.social has now processed all imports, you may have to wait until your admin updates for your import to finish processing.

@pixelfed Awesome! Do these commits also solve issues with non-US-ASCII characters in the statuses / hashtags?

@pixelfed No they don't. Additionally, the imported photos from Instagram are still not being transferred to S3, and they cannot be moved manually. Manually running the command 'php artisan media:migrate2cloud' shows the same result as shown in the attached image, but nothing happens; the photos remain in local storage and are not present in the S3 bucket. This is not a permissions issue.

@pixelfed The same thing is happening on the official instance - pixelfed.social, but there I don't have the option to manually run media:migrate2cloud ;)

@pixelfed Is it not quite finished yet? Out of 71 pictures it has added 6, and 3 more are broken (just a white tile with "No preview available").

@pixelfed This is good news. I don't use instagram personally but I have a large stake in the success of all things #ActivityPub and #fediverse.

@pixelfed What is the default post privacy for imported posts?

I'm testing out the import feature and all my posts are automatically set to "Hidden from public feeds". Trying to figure out if that's due to something on my end, or if that's what they automatically get set to.

Ideally I'd like them to be visible to all, but I can't figure out how to do that.

@pixelfed for my instance Importing from Instagram is still not working. After uploading the export it shows only white Images and create empty posts :(

@pixelfed This did fix my issues with instances that have enabled AuthorizedFetch, but my IG import queue items are still hanging around. Is there any information that can be gleaned from life that may help you?

@pixelfed Thank you 🙏
Do you know when the new version will be released?

@pixelfed is there a way to completely undo any previous attempts to import? I tried the first hundred, got only 3 photos, deleted it. Now import shows it as I have 100 photos imported already and starts with 101st.

@pixelfed @pixelfed
I waited just in case a problem with the import was solved but, in my case, no luck.

I did the import to pixelfed(.)social and it recognized perfectly the first 62 pictures, missing 13.

When I investigated I discovered that after a certain date IG exports the photos in webp format instead of jpg and those are the ones that Pixelfed does not recognize for importing. 😔

@pixelfed I've imported the export of my "bookstagram" account to a pixelfed.social account. It looks beautiful! But I've noticed that all of my imported posts are set to "unlisted", and there doesn't seem to be a way to change the privacy/audience settings on the posts. Is this how imports are intended to be? Doesn't that mean they won't show up in searches?

Thank you! I'd love to get more "bookstagram" folks joining the fediverse.

@pixelfed Pixelfed is not importing from my instagram account posts from 2023 and 2024. I just read it is due to a change in insta picture format (from jpg to webp). Is this the reason why I can't import anything newer than 2022? Thanks for your help!

@pixelfed I think the naming or directory structure had been changed? Even I rename my copy, that download from Google Drive, as specified <username>_yyyymmdd.zip but still not been accepted by import feature. Please help.
