@jbowen @mttaggart this is probably easier then you think. I registered eep access at isnic just this week :D @mttaggart Though I can't remember ever hearing somebody disappointed at the demise of Wave, Buzz, or Google+. @pbx @mttaggart google+ was one of the best social media platforms, just with no people @pbx @mttaggart Circles on Google+ was a legit good idea and should be available on more services. @mttaggart I didn't realize it until now but this is absolutely what brought me into the #homelab life. @mttaggart Hangouts. I was convinced it was the messaging app to rule them all. Then they went and removed SMS capabilities. From then on, their kill count kept climbing. I never saw Google the same way and made efforts to move away from centralized services. @mttaggart Honestly I donāt trust Google to run anything anymore, including even Gmail. The latter marked emails from its own registrar service as spam, lol https://daringfireball.net/linked/2023/06/16/google-domains @eARCwelder @mttaggart Wow, Iāve had similar problems with Gmail spam filters, and this is the first Iād heard about Google Domains shutting down despite being a WHOIS contact for multiple domains that use them as a registrar. @LiberalArtist @eARCwelder Just got announced today that Squarespace is taking over the business. @mttaggart DNS is already federated! It just costs a little bit too much to get yourself a personal TLD. |
@mttaggart I'll start my own registrar. With blackjack! And hookers!
