@chrisisgr8@tech.lgbt Also, I feel that Linux actually needs more tech-inclined users to achieve "The Year of the Linux Desktop" without something going wrong, not more Linux hardware nor advertising. Linux is already somewhat known to most people, even just as "that one OS that's neither Mac or Windows," and anyone who is determined enough to use Linux is fine just installing a distro on a Windows PC. What Linux needs, however, is people who can do many basic computer skills, such as knowing how to navigate software documentation or making a bootable flash drive that has the installer for Linux. For that, I'm really hoping that works, since most hardware manufacturers just don't care about Linux and people were open to trying new things besides Windows before, such as the adoption of Mac OS or Android.
