It's been so long that I've seen an apple device, in person, that wasn't more than 10 years old, I wonder who even buys that shit nowadays.

@neauoire according to my father, he traded his money for an ecosystem that "just works".

Last time he tried to demo me something, he had issues with updates and transferring files to a NTFS drive.

@neauoire I still know a couple people who feel like they *need* to upgrade their phones every 2 years for a scrolling Instagram machine

@neauoire

It's a status symbol, like a Rolex.

How many people do you know (excluding me!) who is a Patek Philippe or a Jaeger LeCoultre estimator, even if those watches could be far more expensive than a Rolex?

@GustavinoBevilacqua it's true that I don't know many people who can dish out on a rolex 🤔

@neauoire Ya, somewhere in the neighbourhood of 300 million people buy Apple computing devices per year, so it can be hard to miss. And they last a long time too, so ya, hundreds of millions of people are rocking exceptionally old devices, and most are even getting software updates! So there’s something like 2 billion active apple devices in use today. So where do they all come from? It’s all so confusing. 😜

@neauoire I bought a MacBook air m2, because it's the highest ratio of performance to power consumption in small form factor that satisfies requirements that make me a living.
People exist to whom these things are the right tool for the job :)
