@dramypsyd @actuallyautistic Going by the NAMI support principle that "mental illnesses* are medical illnesses that may have environmental triggers," I would include:
* Depression
* Anxiety
Also: gender dysphoria.
(In truth, when I was working with a therapist about dysphoria at a gender and sexual health clinic years ago, I had to twist his arm for him just to administer ASD screening tests like the RAADS. Scored high. Got diagnosed via the local Autism Society. Now that clinic screens all gender dysphoria patients for ASD. I forget the percentage of co-diagnoses but it's much higher than chance would allow!)
@Qwyrdo @dramypsyd @actuallyautistic I don't have a link at hand, but I know about two studies:
One big meta study says that > 70 % of people with an autism diagnosis (they still called it Aspergers) have „gender issues“.
Another study, performed later, came to the conclusion that > 70 % of all trans people are autistic or in other way neurodivergent.
There seems to be a pattern.
I am autistic (without official diagnosis) and trans agender. Found out the first in 2011, the second in 2014.
