If anything, meeting people from different backgrounds helps dispell some of my own biases, it makes me more open-minded, more tolerant.
In Tove Jansson's The Summer Book, the grandmother is always telling Sophia that she can believe what she likes, but that she must learn to be tolerant. When first reading that passage, I too resolved to actively work at being more tolerant :moomin_hmm:

@rek That's why it's so bad for society when people lock themselves into their online filter bubbles and stop conversing with their neighbors, strangers, etc... Their ability to be tolerant diminishes and the result is more and more extreme manifestations of disapproval of other people's opinions.

Well that's just how I feel about it. And yes I realize the irony of opining about filter bubbles right here on Mastodon...🤐
