I'm thinking of getting one of those ultrawide monitors
not for gaming or anything
I'm just using ghidra a lot and I could use the horizontal screen space

@foone Can recommend. I’m using a tiling window manager with mine and it’s actually better for that than multiple monitors

@c3manu @foone I toyed with the idea of getting an ultra wide 49" monitor, but it turned out to be a bit too bulky for my setup. A mate had one and I was impressed.

In the end I settled for a single 4k. My setup at home is now better than in the office (they also started doing hot desking...).

@foone fwiw, I've switched to 2x4K side by side, and it's pretty awesome (although to be fair the right half of one of them is mostly used as storage space and for OBS when streaming). Also much cheaper than a 5k×2k monitor (let alone 8k×2k) 😅

@foone one thing I wish Ghidra did do is let you create a "container" window for tiling stuff that isn't attached to the main disassembly tool window, to make it easier to organise stuff across screens.

@foone sure but they're right. An ultrawide is pretty awesome for gaming.

terminal tetris in a ridiculously wide terminal window

@foone
This is just to say
I have eaten the
ultra wide monitors

@foone
Game changer. 👍I got a superwide a few years ago when they seemed to be selling them off cheap because noone wanted them! 👌

@foone I like ultrawides for being able to split a "normal-sized" main window with room for a sidebar.

@foone Same. Either that or having the doc next to code or similar. It's just more practical than 2x 16:9 for me.

@foone a 21:9 display was life changing for me, very highly recommend. just about everything I've ever done that was made more convenient with the addition of another display is more convenient on a single 21:9

@foone ive gotten one for similar reasons, and would definitely recommend it. The additional screen space is really nice to have. Personally paired it with an old 4:3 monitor which i can put my browser on, while the ultrawide holds my main window and a terminal or two.

@foone ¿Do you have spare VGA monitors and a HDMI to VGA adapter?
