@gamingonlinux I never really got into Grim Dawn- gameplay was too slow and art was too drab. Last Epoch is really solid and it's been great seeing the game and the studio progress. TL:I is a PC port of a game initially on mobile, vaguely set in a future version of the Torchlight world but mostly unrelated- it's safe to skip.

If you're not married to the isometric view, try Warframe, though- deep customization, awesome story, tons of content, and the best f2p model I've played.

@gamingonlinux Also, D4 is... Ok. Not sure where you're seeing people complain about wow-like graphics, that was D3- this is pure grimdark. That said, the balancing is *hilariously* bad, build variety is nowhere near the level of many other games, and the pacing seems more soulslike than ARPG to me. I'll play it through for the story, but in its current state I don't see it becoming a go-to game for me

@gamingonlinux Good article, and I really liked it. Learned about some new games I've never heard of, even on other "Games like Diablo" lists.

It's strange that Lost Ark's not on there, as it's the biggest recent game with Diablo-like combat. Does it not run on Linux? That's what I'm guessing.

@gamingonlinux I need to try Last Epoch again. Last time I played it, I couldn't get it to run at a stable framerate at any resolution above 1080p. Even on Windows. But that was back in late 2021 and they've apparently made huge improvements to performance lately so I should give it another go.

Grim Dawn is fun. And a pretty deep game with loads of customization, and it has some great mods too if you're tired of the vanilla game. Including "Reign of Terror," a total conversion mod that basically turns it into Diablo II with extra content on a modern game engine.
