Interviewer: Can you explain these gaps in your resume?

Me: Those are typographical indicators called spaces and line breaks that separate words and paragraphs.

@StefanThinks. Would you prefer pictures of births and deaths, doctor appointments et al?

@StefanThinks I'm going with "on sabbatical" and sticking with it ;-)

@StefanThinks @cobie
Especially useful if you’re interviewing for a coach position. Always important to get the softball questions right.

@britishtechguru @StefanThinks You might as well say the bird site now, or for last century, circuit city.

@cainmark @StefanThinks Gaps on resumes are easily filled with closed companies. I’ve worked for a couple of companies that genuine,y closed their doors while I was there. That really stumps interviewers. I remember one.

Why do you want to leave your current job.
The company is closing down.
Yeah, ok. That’s a pretty good reason.

@StefanThinks sure those gaps were when I was poor but happy

@StefanThinks

I always place gaps e.g. in my chronological vita. But always so that it will clear if the interviewer will read closely.

For me this is a test if my interviewer has red my vita closely or not.

@StefanThinks If you'd allow me to open my slide deck on kerning and leading, I'd be happy talk about the gaps in my resume. I promise to keep it under two hours... Ok two and a half hours.
