@katharsisdrill @techtraveler That's accurate, but I defined it as "federates with Mastodon" to avoid going too deep into protocols and software when I'm not sure how tech savvy the person I'm speaking to is. More technically, I'd say anything that federates using ActivityPub or OStatus counts, even though Mastodon only supports the former. I'm a bit iffy as to whether Diaspora counts, as Friendica and Hubzilla are pretty much its only connection with the rest. @f00fc7c8 @techtraveler - Yea - it was not to be a pedantic :) I would say though, that Diaspora is part of the fediverse by definition as it was one of the first. I am on both Diaspora, Hubzilla and Mastodon and see many things go from one place to the other. Mastodon and Diaspora are the most user friendly interfaces and have the largest user bases. They cover facebook style blogging and micro blogging. That they can't connect is just typical FOSS :) Hopefully it will be corrected soon :) |
@f00fc7c8 @techtraveler @lowqualityfacts - Actually it is anything that can federate with Hubzilla and Friendica. Mastodon is a bit flawed when it comes to working with the rest of the fediverse.
