Radical left fediverse - Overreacting and blocking everything by first rumor and also everyone who didn’t block ones that they already blocked
“Freespeech” fediverse - Mostly edgy toxic trolls who try to feel better about themselves by gaining that overreaction towards them
Comfy people at fediverse - getting lumped together with one of above groups without asking them
I really start to see that fediverse getting separated into several parts is less of a bad thing that people tend to portray it. Almost every time I try to go slightly further than several comfortable information bubbles I’m in I end up very dissapointed in humanity.
Though I would really still prefer big mastodon instances to not do blocking based just on guilt by association, tech behind fediverse is fascinating and it would really go to waste if there would not be any instances where you could just go and freely contact almost every instance regardless if they are good or bad people
All above is written while I understand why people tend to block Freespeech and other instances filled with jerks of a people, since I really feel sometimes that being able to read posts from such instances hurts my nerves (they may not attack me, but I feel attacked because they talk shitty about kinds of people that I actually have a lot of fedifriends in) and I still end up muting almost all of people that I see from “usually blocked” instances
The reason why I stay on udongein despite that is that I love local community and don’t want to leave instance that made me stay on fediverse.
