@san @Theorem_Poem I think the idea is that the protocol is more secure and the levels are more controlled by the user.
Similar to Scuttlebutt protocol, where you have a key and encryption, but also with AP style servers and then larger servers that handle some "what's viral today" type of stuff.
The problem, as some have pointed out, is moderation. And that is really the deal breaker for some people. Some believe pedophiles should have the ability to post on the same board as my children and others believe moderators should block pedophiles.
In AP, you can block a user from your own account, the admin can see an account get a lot of blocks and choose to block them from the entire server. If the account is from a different server, the admin can literally block the entire server from it's AP.
I find that ability tends to make people a bit more cautious of being a-holes, and makes server owners a bit more careful about managing their own users so to ensure their entire server doesn't get blocked
