@Mastodon I don't think this is a good solution here.

While it may make it faster and easier to create an account are core issues still present like telling the user how they follow, reply, boost, etc. on a decentralized platform.
Those are major roadblocks that imo are much more difficult to overcome than figuring out how to make an account.

I can already see people creating an account only to abandon it after a while because they don't get how to do the aforementioned things.

A better onboarding experience would've been a sort of quiz, where depending on what answers you select, you'd get a different set of servers recommended (These servers would be sourced from joinmastodon.org/servers)

It wouldn't solve the issues I pointed out by any means, but at least won't make a sole server the main point of tons of inactive and abandoned accounts.

@Jonathanglick At least it would be better than putting a specific server (Especially one they manage) front and center.

Like barely anyone will bother with selecting a different server themself, as lazyness exists.

@andre_601 Kind of a moot point, because barely anyone will complete a quiz to join a network they barely understand. :)

@Jonathanglick Then they honestly shouldn't be here tbh.
If they can't be bothered to put the least amount of effort into this, which is like selecting what topics you're into and then getting servers recommended, then they shouldn't create and use a social media account as that little amount of effort is required.

Also, if they already have issues with a bloody quiz, then having to follow guys not in the same server would blow their minds.
