Gregory's Server@deutrino @luana I may be naive here... What if several instances got together, created a central sign-in form with randomization, and did a proof-of concept test just to see whether it could work? And advertise it a bit so newbies would know to try it for joining?
(Just asking-- I don't really know how these things work)

@AskPippa @deutrino Sing up should not be randomized either. The person should choose an instance themselves. A quick โselect your interestsโ form that results in a few instance options should work.
