This weekend’s arts&crafts project - Part 2 of 2:
a) Hands cleaned up & mounted on our back fence.
b) Peanuts anyone?
c) Did someone say peanuts?
d) Finally, Mr Scarface #Squirrel came & ate from the hands. We had to wait a while for that, seemed to freak out the other #squirrels. Maybe has a funny smell or it’s just a matter of skittish animals reacting to something new in their environment. But the biological imperative for food always wins out in the end 😁

@Trilobyter This is great! It looks cool even if it had been purchased, but the fact that you made a mold of your wife's hands is fantastic.

@Trilobyter this concert is just mind-blowing to me. Very clever. Now I’m thinking people may like to have their hand or hands cast. Remember a few hundred years ago when death masks were popular? I remember Grandpa and Grandma’s hands and would love to have one for each.

@cobalt I’m not sure where I got the idea to do this, just that it started with wanting make some kind of new feeder for our backyard wildlife. I saw a lot of all-in-one kits for making keepsake-type castings, couples holding hands, that kind of thing. Many of those use plaster or resin for casting, not suitable for outdoors. So I kept looking & found a couple of videos on doing this with cement. Not sure anyone else was wanting to feed squirrels & birds with them. But I have more ideas now.
