 Right, well, since the charming person who owns thegx.ca saw it fit to reply so kindly, I’ve gone ahead and reported their domain to both their domain registrar – abuse@promopeople.com – via email and to their web host – https://www.hostpapa.com/ – via chat – “Thank you very much for letting us know about this Aral. I will report it to the appropiate team so we can take care of it”. See what being so damn affable gets you? Bloody spammers. 11 comments
@aral I always knock 'em right in the 'net connection. Most providers are happy to handle taking them down, but I haven't had good luck with domain registrars -- they tend to push back and tell me to go talk to their service provider. Do you have any hints for how to get useful responses from domain registrars? @damnitjanet No idea. This is the first time I’ve tried it. Will let you know how it goes :)  @aral Domain providers are typically constrained by formal procedures and slow to move. The folks at the current host are good people (and technically competitors); you're likely to get a good response from them. And if the fellow ties to open an account with me, he can go fish.  @aral I’ve just reported the site as well through hostpapa’s chat. I recommend everyone who comes across this spam account does that. Eventually they’ll get tired of hearing the reports and will remove this spammer. |

@aral You have my sympathy. I put "thegx" into the search bar as soon as I started getting the reports, and pre-emptively blocked everything that came up.
There were *over a dozen* of the blighters. Gah.
