Not the best time of year to ferment things (veggies aren't cheap), but we need to stock up on preserves now if we want to have enough food stores for the summer :>.

3xjars of turnips and beets
4xjars of sauerkraut with chilis

We still have about 7 jars from last fall that we still haven't eaten :>.

*edit for context: we spend time away from cities in the summer, and finding good food while sailing can be difficult.

jars of lacto fermented turnips and beets, and of sauerkraut and chilis.

@rek How do you store these so they 100% don't break while sailing?

R E K

@tinspin we have a big sturdy crate for them, where our fridge used to be :). The jars are stacked, and packed in tight. They don't move.

@rek Do you think it would survive a roll?

R E K

@tinspin Maybe. All ours jars survived our knockdown in 2020. A 5L jar of umeshu did escape its bindings, wasnt secured well enough. That was a pretty rough toss, cause the jar leapt out of its space, hit the ceiling and made a hole in it (just wood panelling, nothing structural). The jar itself didnt break, only the plastic lid did XD...
