Gregory's Server@atomicpoet one of my frustrations with the fediverse is that I can’t reuse my existing Mastodon account for Pixelfed for example. I know I can follow Mastodon accounts from the Pixelfed side but I don’t understand why I’m required to have a separate account for Pixelfed.
For me at least, there is a barrier every time I am presented with a “Create a new username“ workflow.

@CamsJam You’re required a separate account because Pixelfed is a separate service that exists independent of Mastodon.
The bigger question is why your Fediverse account doesn’t exist independent of Mastodon, and that’s because nomadic identity isn’t supported by Mastodon yet.
