It's an interesting design! All things considered, though, I think any comparisons between BlueSky and Mastodon/Fedi should wait until they have more than a single instance. 99% of the perceived complexity here is due to the distributed nature of the network, and the many "BlueSky is like Mastodon minus the complexity" I'm seeing at the moment to me mostly read like "there's only one instance, hooray!" @hmans I agree. Things get much more complicated for Bluesky once one single instance no longer controls everything. |
@hmans AT Protocol is open, which means you could plausibly build your own software and self-host it.
But right now, thereβs only one instance.
