@mmasnick I understand them taking a beat and regrouping on their own web presence again, but I hope someone is able to convince them that it wouldn't be much risk to set up a fediverse server of some variety for the national org and the local affiliates to all use.

@mmasnick Have any of the NPR folks moved over to Mastodon?

@mmasnick In Musk’s defense, one reason he labeled NPR like that is because he’s a lying liar who lies about everything and assumes everyone else does too.

He knows he’d use NPR as a propaganda outlet if he controlled the government, so that means it must be happening. I mean, just look at how he used credible reporters to give legitimacy to his Twitter Files exposé. That’s what he thinks journalism is.

Mister Shade

@mmasnick It seems like a good development. I was thinking they’d just capitulate, like so many others have.

@mmasnick I wish they would set up a Mastodon server for their org.

@mmasnick first of many, I hope

again, Twitter only succeeded because journalists paid attention to it and signal boosted everything off of it relentlessly on broadcast news. Without that signal boost, there is no spreading of Twitter. The user base is actually quite small.

Good call, @NPR, I hope every decent news outlet in the world will follow this example.
